The Joy of Torrey Pines

Previous to yesterday I was most familiar with the name Torrey Pines because of the famous golf course that's one of the venues on the PGA tour. What I did not know is that there is a California State Preserve of the same name that offers hiking with spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean. The Astrals headed out with Colin and Jenn on another perfect California day: sunny and about 70F. We hiked uphill from the parking lot through some of the most beautiful terrain I've ever seen and then down through the gorges to the beach. For our return trip, we wisely chose to walk back along the beach. Astral Wendy shot almost 300 photographs and it was a real challenge deciding which ones to use. I'll keep the blather to a minimum because the photos mostly speak for themselves.

No real surprise. Pines.

The view from up top.

This is way better than the desert.

Not to touch the earth
Not to see the sun
Nothing left to do, but
Run, run, run
Let's run
lets run*

It almost got ruined by my old nemesis. Then I remembered that I don't
have a house to be eaten any more.

Not something I have any interest in trying. I want to live, dammit.

Colin, Jenn, and me hiking on ahead.

I have found my cave. Check back in twenty years.

I found a black stone with an orange stripe. I call it
"Eye of the Tiger Rock'

Hubba Hubba.
